Founder’s Welcome

A Message from the Founder

A Personal Welcome to BWDN
Dear Members,

Welcome to the Black Women Doctoral Network (BWDN). I am truly honored that you are here.

This community was created with you in mind, Black women who have worked tirelessly to earn doctoral and professional degrees, and who continue to lead, serve, and make meaningful impact across every field imaginable. BWDN is more than a network; it is a space for connection, authenticity, shared experience, and genuine community.

As someone who has walked the path of earning a doctorate and navigating leadership within the nonprofit sector, I understand both the strength it takes to achieve these milestones and the importance of having a supportive circle along the journey. Too often, Black women at the highest levels of education and leadership find themselves without spaces where they can simply connect, be understood, and build relationships with peers who share similar experiences.

BWDN exists to change that.

Here, you are invited to engage, connect, and build meaningful relationships with other accomplished Black women. Whether through social gatherings, networking events, or everyday conversation within our community, my hope is that you find sisterhood, encouragement, joy, and opportunity here.

This is a space where your voice matters, your journey is valued, and your presence strengthens the collective.

I encourage you to show up fully, connect openly, and take advantage of the relationships and opportunities that will grow from being part of this community. Together, we are building something powerful, not only for ourselves, but for the generations of Black women who will follow.

Thank you for being here and for being part of this vision.

With warmth and appreciation,

Dr. Simone Hinds
