The Black Women Doctoral Network (BWDN) brings together accomplished women who have achieved or are nearing their doctoral milestones to nurture a deep sense of belonging and community. Through vibrant social exchange and intellectual kinship, we sustain a premier union of experts dedicated to shared growth, professional equity, and driving meaningful change throughout the Tri-State area.

Vision

To be the premier Tri-State network for Black women with doctorates, recognized for pioneering leadership, scholarly innovation, and collective societal advancement across the region.

Core Values

Connection: We build deep relationships rooted in trust, mutual respect, and warmth.
Leadership: We empower women to lead with confidence, clarity, and purpose.
Service: We use our expertise to uplift communities and enrich lives.
Collaboration: We honor the truth that our collective brilliance far exceeds individual effort.
Legacy: We open doors for future Black women scholars to achieve greatness through advanced education and high-impact leadership.

Meet Our Founder

Studio portrait of a Black woman in professional business attire, resting her chin on her hand. She has a confident, poised expression against a simple background.

Dr. Simone Hinds is a well-versed nonprofit leader with over 20 years of dedicated service in the social services sector. In 2019, she reached a personal and professional milestone by earning her PhD in Public Policy and Administration, with a focus on Nonprofit Management and Leadership. Her career has always been rooted in a simple goal: helping others succeed and strengthening the foundations of our local communities.

Dr. Simone Hinds decided to launch the Black Women Doctoral Network as a welcoming Tri-State community. She realized there was a need for a grounded, local space where Black women who have or are pursuing their doctorates can simply connect and support one another. BWDN is her way of bringing talented women together right here at home to share their journeys, offer honest mentorship, and build lasting friendships in a space that feels like family.
